105 people died of carbon monoxide inhalation since the beginning of the year

105 people have died in Algeria since the beginning of the current year, as a result of suffocation of carbon monoxide gas, according to a report issued today, Monday, by the sub-director of statistics and information at the General Directorate of Civil Protection.

The source indicated that “105 deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the year, while 3,257 others were saved from death during the same period for the same reasons.”

The source attributed the occurrence of such incidents to “poor installation of heating and water heating equipment by unqualified persons, in addition to the lack of maintenance and periodic monitoring operations, and ensuring that there are ventilation windows.”

It stressed that complying with safety instructions “will avoid further loss of life,” stressing the importance and necessity of encouraging citizens to purchase a device that detects carbon monoxide gas leakage and obtain a certificate of conformity when purchasing any new device to put an end to suffocation incidents that claimed the lives of entire families. .
