14 people have died and 424 others have been injured in traffic accidents during the last 48 hours

14 people have died, and 424 others have been injured in traffic accidents across the country during the last 48 hours, according to a statement by the General Directorate of Civil Protection.

The same statement indicated that the heaviest toll was recorded in the province of Djanet, which witnessed two accidents that resulted in the death of 3 people and the injury of 2 others.

The same source added that two people died after inhaling carbon monoxide gas inside their homes in the province of El Bayadh, while civil protection teams intervened to provide first aid to 3 people who suffered from breathing difficulties after inhaling the same gas emitted from water heaters inside their homes in the municipality of Hydra (province of Algiers).

As for the activities related to the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the Civil Protection Units carried out, during the same period throughout the national territory, 80 awareness-raising campaigns across 14 provinces (58 municipalities) for the benefit of citizens to urge and remind them of the need to respect the lockdown measures as well as social distancing, in addition to carrying out 69 sterilization operations across 9 provinces (36 municipalities).
