19 people have been killed and 240 others have sustained injuries of varying severity, in 183 traffic accidents in different parts of the country over the last 48 hours, according to a statement issued today, Saturday, by civil protection services.
The heaviest death toll was recorded in the province of Batna, where 8 people died in a collision between a semi-trailer truck and a light-weight car on National Road No. 78 in Barika district.
Meanwhile, during the same period, the Civil Protection personnel provided first aid to 30 people who suffocated after inhaling carbon monoxide gas emitted from heating devices in the province of Bechar.
Civil protection personnel also intervened to put out 3 different urban fires in Tizi Ouzou, Tlemcen and M’sila, causing the death of a person in the municipality of Tlemcen.
