2022 World Qualifiers: Algeria national team continues its 30th unbeaten match following 6-1 win over Niger

National football team dominated Niger’s 6-1 (half time: 1-0), in a match at Mustapha-Tchaker stadium of Blida (50-km south of Algiers) on Friday, the third day (Group A) of the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar reaching by this encounter the 30th unbeaten match. Algeria striker Islam Slimani has become Algeria’s all time leading goal scorer by scoring 02 goals yesterday night in Blida.

The “Desert Foxes” are back to wins following the previous match against Burkina Faso that ended in a draw 1-1.

Facing Niger was not that easy, As the Desert Foxes gave two different performances, as they struggled in the first half, finishing narrowly ahead, coming back strong in the second and scoring 05 goals.

Both Mahrez goals came from set pieces as he converted a free-kick to break the deadlock on 27 minutes and give the Desert Foxes a 1-0 half-time advantage.

After Sofiane Feghouli doubled the lead two minutes into the second half, Manchester City winger and former African Footballer of the Year Mahrez scored from a penalty on the hour for a 3-1 lead.

Nigerien Zakariya Souleymane conceded an own-goal and Islam Slimani took his World Cup qualifying goal tally to six with a brace, and become Algeria’s all time leading goal scorer.

Algeria and Burkina Faso are both leaders of the group and Niger is at the bottom.
