2023 World Men’s Handball Championship: Algeria’s 19 players list unveiled

The coach of the Algerian men’s handball squad, Rabah Gharbi, has selected 19 players for the 28th World Championship 2023, in Poland and Sweden (11-29 January), announced the Algerian Handball Federation (FAHB).

The national team will travel this Monday to Tunisia to play two friendly matches against its Tunisian counterpart, January 4 and 6, at the Mohamed Mazali sports hall in Monastir (17:00).

At the 28th World Championship, Algeria will play in Group E, along with Qatar, Serbia, and Germany, while Tunisia, third in the last CAN 2022 played in Egypt, will be in the Group H alongside Denmark, Belgium and Bahrain.

The Algerian team will begin the tournament by facing Serbia on Friday, January 13 at the Spodek Hall in Katowice (Poland), before facing Qatar, Asian champion, on Sunday, January 15 in the same venue.

The teammates of Messaoud Berkous will complete the preliminary round against Germany, Tuesday, January 17 also at the Spodek hall.

As a reminder, Africa will be represented at the World Cup 2023 by five teams: Egypt, Cape Verde, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria.
