
The National Security Services recorded 324 physical traffic accidents at the level of urban areas during the period from December 27, 2022 to January 02, 2023, which resulted in the death of 09 people and the injury of 367 others.
Compared to the statistics recorded in the past week, the death toll from traffic accidents increased by (+35) accidents, as well as an increase in the number of injured by (+56), with the same number of deaths recorded.
Relevant data indicates that the causes of these accidents are primarily due to the human element at a rate of more than 95%, as a result of non-compliance with the traffic law, non-compliance with the safety distance, excessive speed, fatigue and lack of concentration when driving, in addition to other reasons related to the vehicle.
In this context, the General Directorate of National Security renews its call to highway users to respect the traffic law, and to exercise caution while driving.
The General Directorate of National Security also puts at the disposal of citizens the toll-free-number 1548 and the helpline 17, to receive assistantce 24/24 hours.
