33 people died and 1,408 injured in traffic accidents within a week

33 people were killed and 1,408 others were injured in 1,190 traffic accidents recorded in various regions of the country from 3 to 9 October, according to a weekly toll reported, today, Tuesday, by the services of the General Directorate of Civil Protection.

The same source indicated that the heaviest toll recorded in the province of Tiaret resulted in the death of six (06) people at the scene of the accident and the injury of 16 others who were treated and transferred to hospital centers following 13 traffic accidents.

During the same period, Civil Protection units carried out 1,509 interventions that allowed to extinguish 1,184 fires, including industrial, home and various fires, the most important of which was in the province of Algiers, which recorded 115 interventions after 84 fires.

In the field of various operations, the same units also carried out 4,490 interventions to cover 3,932 ambulance operations and rescue 258 people from danger, and intervened 11,606 times in the context of health evacuations to rescue and evacuate 11,000 wounded and sick people to hospitals.

With regard to activities related to the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), the same services across the national territory carried out 340 awareness-raising operations for the benefit of citizens to urge them and remind them of the need to respect quarantine rules as well as social distancing, in addition to carrying out 20,147 public sterilization operations across 58 provinces. It affected several public facilities and structures, especially residential complexes and streets.
