Aboul Gheit hails commitment of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the purposeful joint Arab action and reunification

The Secretary-General of the Arab League of, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, praised, today, Sunday, in Cairo, the rationality of the Algerian approach, noting the commitment of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the purposeful joint Arab action and reunification, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement read, “As part of his working visit to Cairo in his capacity as a special envoy of the President of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, held consultations with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, which centered on the situation in the Arab region and prospects for lifting the current challenges.

In this context, the statement adds, “The two parties discussed the preparation for the Arab summit, which is led by Algeria as the host country, in consultation and coordination with its Arab brothers and with the full support of the Arab League secretariat, to ensure the success of this summit and make of it a milestone in the process of joint Arab action.”

In the end, the two parties agreed to continue coordination and close cooperation in preparation for this important event.

It’s worth noting that during his presence at the League,  Minister Lamamra met with the advisor of the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephanie Williams, who expressed her desire to visit Algeria soon to coordinate on the prospects for putting an end to the Libyan crisis.

For his part, the Algerian diplomacy chief welcomed the UN advisor’s desire to work in coordination with Algeria, and in the same context reiterated Algeria’s firm position and its unwavering support for the Libyan brothers in order to achieve the necessary consensus to preserve the unity and sovereignty of Libya amid security and stability.
