Actor Omar Guendouz passes away

The actor Omar Guendouz died Wednesday in Blida at the age of 70 years following to a coronavirus infection, said the Director of the Regional Museum of Mostaganem, Nabila Mohamedi.

Well known for his various roles played with great Algerian actors and directors, the deceased has more than 50 years of experience in the field of theater, cinema and television.

The late Omar Guendouz made his mark in theatrical plays “Babor Ghraq” (A ship has sunk) and “Boualem zid el goudam” (Boualem goes forward) by Slimane Benaïssa as well as in the play “Ya chari dala” (Whose turn is it?) directed by Djamel Guermi.

On the Algerian television, the deceased was outstanding in “Zawjan fi hayra” with Nawel Zaatar, “Diaf bla ‘Arda” alongside Farida Saboundji, or in the film “El Khourdadji” with the actress Nadia Talbi.

Initially a student at the Central Conservatory of Music, Drama and Classical Dance in Algiers, where he was trained in theater and music, the deceased has left his mark on the theater scene through his roles and the tone of his voice.

The mortal remains of the deceased will be buried today following the El Asr prayer in the cemetery of Blida.
