Africa Cup 2022- ladies: CAF postpones Sudan-Algeria match to later date

African Football Confederation (CAF), has decided to postpone the encounter that brings together the Sudanese team and its Algerian counterpart, on Tuesday (26 October) at 6 pm in Om Dourman, as part of the first round of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers( ladies), announced on Tuesday, the Algerian Federation for Football.

Algeria Football Federation explained that it had received a letter from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stating that:” due to the current political situation in Sudan, and based on the reports received from the officials in charge of overseeing this match, CAF considered that the current circumstances do not allow the encounter (Sudan / Algeria) to be held on the date”

Confederation of African Football (CAF) added that it closely follows the prevailing situation in Sudan, and that it is keen to ensure the safety of the visiting team (the Algerian team), as well as the officials in charge to manage the match, and accompany them until they return to their country in peace.

The same source explained that the Algerian women’s team, which moved to the Sudanese capital Khartoum, last Friday, canceled its two training sessions, set to be held yesterday Monday, as well as the technical meeting held before each game.

Sudan has been witnessing an unstable political situation since Monday following a campaign of arrests of Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, members of the transitional sovereign council and a number of ministers carried out by joint military forces.
