African Free Trade Area: President of the Republic orders to deepen consultations with economic operators

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, instructed today, Sunday here in Algiers, the government to deepen consultations with various economic operators to prepare for the accession to the promising African Continental Free Trade Area, according to a cabinet statement.

Mr. Tebboune called, during the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers which he chaired today, on the government to benefit from previous similar experiences, and to strengthen the organizational capabilities of the various departments concerned with framing free trade as part of this region in order to ensure effective support for Algerian exporters.

The President of the Republic also stressed the need to distinguish between process of barter that concern a number of limited commodities, and the process of trade exchange within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

A joint presentation by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the process of Algeria’s accession to the African Continental Free Trade Area, was made at the Council of Ministers’ meeting.
