Aissa Bekkaï: Metro traffic to resume on Thursday with more trains to prevent covid-19 spread

Minister of Transport, Aissa Bekkaï, announced, on Tuesday, the increase in the number of trains of Algiers Metro that will resume traffic next Thursday, and this, in view of the prevention against the covid-19.

This measure was taken to reduce pressure on this mode of transport and thus stem the spread of covid-19, said Mr. Bekkai an inspection visit of Algiers Metro expansion work.

The Minister has given, “firm” instructions to enforce compliance with the health protocol in the lines of the Algiers Metro.

The increase in the number of trains should reduce travel time and the duration of trips.

The Ministry of Transport had announced the resumption of traffic of the Algiers Metro Thursday, October 7 from 6:00, and this, after more than 18 months of suspension due to the pandemic of covid-19.

This plan comes on the occasion of the return to work, said Mr. Bekkai, stressing that this will allow ” smooth the road traffic in Algiers “.

Regarding the reasons for suspending the activity of the Metro, the Minister said that this decision was taken as part of “preserving the health of citizens.
