ALECSO calls for the development of a “new prospective vision” for higher education in the Arab world

The Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) pleaded Sunday in Algiers for a new “prospective vision” for higher education and scientific research in the Arab world.

In a document distributed to the press on the occasion of the work of the 18th Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, ALECSO explained that “the establishment of new roles for higher education in order to achieve sustainable development and face the demands of the hour, requires a new proactive vision for the systems of higher education and scientific research in the Arab world “.

In this regard, the same organization insisted on “the development of future sheets likely to promote the system of higher education and scientific research to be in tune with developments through the definition of its needs in terms of fashions, results and methods of its financing ” and to specify that the “majority of Arab countries have achieved the 4th objective of the education agenda 2030 (…), according to ALECSO which reported a notable evolution in terms of higher education levels “.

The organization also called for the adoption of “international indicators for the monitoring and evaluation of the development of Arab higher education systems in addition to technological renewal”, stressing the imperative of “defining the missions and commitments related to contributions relating to socio-economic development projects “.

ALECSO also pleaded for making higher education in the Arab world a locomotive to achieve sustainable development.

The work of the 18th Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research began Sunday, at expert level, at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Center (CIC).

This Conference organized under the theme “Higher education and scientific research in the Arab world by 2030: vision and orientations” in partnership with the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Sciences (ALESCO), will extend over three days.
