Algeria A’ domestic national football team: Friendly match in June

The national A’ football team, comprised of domestic players, will play a friendly match next June in Algeria, against an opponent to be determined, in particular with a view to the 2021 Fifa Arab Cup, scheduled to take place in Qatar (30 November – 18 December), according to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).

This preparatory encounter will conclude the first training camp for local players under the coaching of Madjid Bougherra, appointed to lead the national team in June 2020.

This first training session of the local team will see the participation of players of  League 1 professional, followed for a year by the former captain of the “Greens”, who attended several championship matches, to identify the core of this team.

In addition to the medium-term objective of winning the African Nations Championship CHAN-2023, scheduled to take place in Algeria, the national A’ team will attempt to perform well at the Fifa Arab Cup.

During this Arab event, Algeria will play in group D, along with Egypt, as well as the winners of Lebanon – Djibouti and Libya – Sudan. The tournament will be played in two stages with a preliminary competition involving fourteen low-ranked teams in the form of seven single knockout matches, followed by a final competition in the form of a group stage, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final.

In view of this Arab competition, the national team of local players should be strengthened by elements evolving in Tunisia and Gulf countries.
