Algeria commemorates today, Thursday, the National Day of Martyr, which falls on February 18 of each year, under the slogan “Children of new Algeria … Do not forget the martyrs.”
The celebration of this occasion aims to establish bonds between generations and to remind young people of the heroism of the nation’s martyrs, who gave their souls to gain independence.
Algeria took February 18th to celebrate the memory of its martyrs in honour and gratitude for the huge sacrifices made by these heroes during French colonialism era, during which Algerian people lost more than one million and a half million martyrs.
