Algeria celebrates World Post Day

Last Thursday, Algeria celebrated World Post Day during a ceremony organized in Algiers, in the presence of members of the government.

The celebration of this day, organized at the headquarters of Algiers Postal Corporation, under the slogan “Innovation for Recovery” was attended by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications Karim Bibi Triki, the Minister of National Education Abdelhakim Benabed, the Minister of Digitization and Statistics Hocine Cherhabil and the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of the knowledge economy and institutions Yacine Walid.

Algeria is one of the member countries of the Universal Postal Union, as it revived this day by launching new services, especially electronic ones, aimed at improving citizens’ daily life more and providing them with well-being and better services.

On this occasion, the Director General of Algiers Post, Baya Hanoufi, announced the launch of a cooperation service with the National Agency for Publication and Advertising on the electronic sale of books using the “golden” electronic card.

In this regard, a partnership agreement was signed by the Director-General of the Postal Corporation of Algiers Hanoufi and the Director-General of the National Agency for Publication and Advertising Sihem Derardja, under the high patronage of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications.

Hanoufi also announced the launch of an electronic service related to the sale of stamps using the Gold Card, and the launch of a service on the various services of Algérie Post by activating specialists from the sector centered on topics related to the concerns of users who may interfere via Internet.

The World Post Day is celebrated on the 9th of October of each year, and this event was established during the Universal Postal Conference, which was organized in Tokyo in 1969, in order to celebrate the date of the birth of the Universal Postal Union in the year 1874.

The aim of World Post Day is to sensitize individuals and institutions to the role of post in their daily lives and its contribution to global social and economic development.
