Algeria civil protection in Turkey and Syria report

Algeria rescue teams in Turkey and Syria saved 13 persons alive and recovered 49 dead bodies as of Monday.

A huge earthquake killed more than 17000 people across a swathe of Turkey and northwest Syria on Monday, with freezing winter weather adding to the plight of the thousands left injured or homeless and hampering efforts to find survivors.

Algeria has spared no effort to provide first assistance, in a show of international solidarity, the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities, and Territorial Planning, Brahim Merad, announced on Monday that the first group of 89 specialized civil protection agents have been dispatched to Turkey, at the direction of President of Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to help in rescue and relief operations following a devastating earthquake that struck the country.
