Algeria Cycling Tour-2023: 76 cyclists on the 9th and penultimate stage ”Jijel-Béjaia” over 88.5 km

The 9th and penultimate stage of the Algerian Cycling Tour will take the 76 cyclists from Jijel to Béjaïa over a distance of 88,5 km, with the objective for the Algerian cyclist Ferkous Ayoub of “Majd El Guerrara”, only 11 seconds behind the yellow jersey, to beat the Frenchman Paul Hennequin.

This penultimate stage of the ACT-2023, starting in front of the headquarters of the People’s Assembly of the Province of Jijel, will be crucial for the Algerian cyclists to reduce the gap in the overall standings with the leading trio, Frenchman Paul Hennequin, yellow jersey holder, Italian Sandri Edoardo and Eritrean Ghebrehiwet Aklilu.

The fight for the yellow leader’s jersey will be very tough. Two other Algerians can now claim the yellow jersey, namely Abderraouf Bengayou of “Team Madar” and Oussama Cheblaoui of “Majd El Guerrara”.

At the end of the eighth stage, won by Hamza Yacine “Team Madar”, Frenchman Paul Hennequin kept his yellow jersey with two seconds ahead of Italian Edoardo Sandri (Q36.5 Continental Cycling Team) and four seconds ahead of Eritrean Aklilu Ghebrehiwet.

Hennequin also kept the white jersey of the best U23 rider, while Eritrean Yemane Dawit kept the polka dot jersey of the best climber.
