
Dutch cyclist Luuk Schuurmans, a member of the Unuverse Team, claimed victory in the fifth stage of Algeria Cycling Tour (ACT-2023) on Saturday.
The race covered a distance of 143.9 km between Batna and Sétif, with Schuurmans crossing the finish line in 3h46.33.
Algerian cyclist Oussama Cheblaoui, representing the Majd Guerrara team, finished second in the stage.
The stage was notable for a breakaway of 15 riders, with Cheblaoui and French cyclist Hennequin Paul (Nice Métropole) both finishing with the same time. Paul’s performance earned him the yellow jersey as the leader of the tour.
