Algeria External Bank launches an Islamic banking window in Annaba, Guelma and Souk Ahras

The External Bank of Algeria launched today, Thursday, Islamic banking windows in Annaba, Guelma and Souk Ahras, in the presence of the CEO and the directors of the same banking institution.

This operation falls within the framework of the implementation of the strategy of generalizing and diversifying Islamic banking products and providing them through the entire agencies of the External Bank of Algeria in the country, as confirmed by the President and General Manager of this bank, Lazhar Latrach Halal, who attended the opening ceremony of the Islamic banking window in Unit 044 in the center of Annaba.

The same official stated that the foreign bank had opened 26 Islamic banking networks through the agencies of this bank since the operation was launched at the end of December 2021.

Mr. Lazhar Latrach added that the Islamic banking products that were launched within the framework of the generalization of Islamic finance and bringing this service closer to customers recorded a remarkable turnout for citizens, as well as for the bank’s customers, including bodies and institutions, noting that the External Bank of Algeria has recorded, since the launch of the Islamic banking service, an amount of 9 billion dinars, and that within the framework of the Islamic savings account product.

The External Bank of Algeria expects to open more than 44 Islamic banking windows during the current year (2022), so that the second semester of 2022 will witness the launch of similar windows in the southern provinces of the country.

For reference, two other Islamic banking windows of the External Bank of Algeria were opened today, Thursday, in the provinces of Guelma and Souk Ahras, under the supervision of the CEO of the same banking institution.
