Algeria hailed the commitment of Malian parties in implementing Algiers Agreement

Algeria hailed today, Sunday, the “commitment” of the Malian authorities and the movements signatories to the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Mali stemming from the Algiers process, to working for the successful implementation of this agreement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad announced in a statement that Algeria noted with “with satisfaction” the holding of the second high-level meeting for decision-making from August 1 to 5 in Bamako, with the participation of the Malian government and all the movements signatories to this agreement.

The same source indicated that “Algeria, as a neighboring country to Mali, the leader of international mediation and the chairperson of the agreement’s follow-up committee, values ​​the decisions reached by this meeting on the important issue of disarmament, the reintegration of fighters and the chain of command, as well as on institutional and constitutional issues.”

This progress, according to the ministry, “will pave the way for the launch of a new dynamic in order to revive the path of implementation of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali, stemming from the Algiers process, in a regional and international context that requires its implementation more than ever.”
