Algeria invites South Korean companies to invest in seawater desalination

Minister of Water Resources and Water Security Karim Hasni received on Thursday the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Algeria H.E Kim Chang-Mo, calling on South Korean companies to propose investments for the implementation of seawater desalination plants.

The minister stressed in a statement, that the meeting aims at the assessment of bilateral cooperation in the field of water resources in order to study means and ways to develop it.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed that bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of Water Resources has been fruitful.

Karim Hasni, outlined the new challenges facing his country in the context of the current water stress “which obliges the country to move towards non-conventional resources including the desalination of sea water,”

In this sense, Mr Hasni invited Korean companies to make investment proposals in the forthcoming governmental program regarding implementation of desalination plants and also to develop technology and industry in this field through mixed projects.

The Korean diplomat responded favorably to the Minister’s proposals and specified that he would in turn invite his country’s companies to take an interest in the Algerian party’s appeal.
