Algeria-Libya: Attaf, Al-Mangoush discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations

The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received Tuesday a phone call from his Libyan counterpart, Najla Al-Mangoush, during which they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, in addition to the latest developments at the regional level, the ministry said in a statement.

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call on Tuesday from his Libyan counterpart, Najla Al-Mangoush, who congratulated him on his appointment as the head of Algerian diplomacy,” the statement read.

On this occasion, the two parties discussed “the fraternal relations between the two countries and brotherly peoples, and means of strengthening them, as well as the latest developments on the regional scene. They also exchanged views on ways to overcome obstacles that hinder the political settlement process of the Libyan crisis.”

Mr. Attaf reiterated Algeria’s permanent solidarity with Libya in all that is necessary to strengthen its unity and to establish the consensus of its children regarding the organization of free and regular elections to end the division and to restore Libya to its natural place at the continental and international levels.

For her part, Ms. Najla Al-Mangoush praised Algeria’s constant support for the security and stability of Libya, welcoming in this regard “the historical depth and exceptional nature of the fraternal Algerian-Libyan relations, as well as the promising prospects for their strengthening to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples,” the statement concluded.
