Algeria ready to host the next summit of Non-Aligned Movement

Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, said on Monday from Belgrade (Serbia) that Algeria is ready to host the next summit of Non-Aligned countries.

“I had the honour today to represent the President of the Republic at the high-level meeting marking the 60th anniversary of the holding of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in Belgrade in 1961 with the participation of all founding members,” Benabderrahmane told the press on the sidelines of his participation in this work, recalling that “Algeria, which was not yet independent, took part in this first conference where it received support for its independence.

The celebration of the 60th anniversary of the creation of the NAM comes as a “consecration of the founding principles of the organisation”, and therefore “the countries participating in the meeting have valued these principles, and Algeria in turn has affirmed respect for the principle of freedom of peoples to self-determination, including the right of  Saharawi people to self-determination and the right of the Palestinian people to the establishment of an independent state in accordance with UN resolutions,” the Prime Minister stressed.
