“Algeria Startup Challenge” program ranks first at “WestMed” award in Rome

The “Algeria Startup Challenge” program won the first place in the WestMed initiative Awards, in the Italian capital Rome, as the best program for skills development and innovation support in the blue economy at the Mediterranean Basin, according to a post published on the program’s official Facebook page.

The award was received by the program director, Abdelfattah Harizi, yesterday, Tuesday in Rome, on the sidelines of the “WestMed” annual conference, he considered this award “a success he shares with all actors in the innovation ecosystem in Algeria.”

54 programs and projects representing Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Mauritania and other countries participated in the contest.

The same source explained that the “Algeria Startup Challenge ” program participated through the challenge of Aquaculture Technology and the Blue Economy, which was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Fisheries and Fishing Products, and the Ministry delegated to the Prime Minister, in charge of the knowledge economy and startups.

On the occasion, the Minister of Fisheries and Fishing Products, Hichem Sofiane Salouatchi, congratulated the program for the award.

It’s worth recalling that the “Algeria Startup Challenge” program, created in 2018, aims to encourage entrepreneurs who hold ideas for startups and other innovative solutions aimed at improving the daily life of the Algerian consumer, in addition to developing the cooperative economy.
