
Algeria has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the province Oudalan, north of Burkina Faso, causing several casualties among Burkinabe’s forces, expressing its solidarity with Burkina Faso and all African countries facing counterterrorism challenges, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Tuesday in a statement.
“Algeria strongly condemns the terrorist attack in the province of Oudalan in northern Burkina Faso, causing several victims among the Burkinabe forces and extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to this fraternal country and to the families of the victims” and “expresses its solidarity with Burkina Faso and all African countries that face the challenges of the fight against terrorism,” reads the statement.
“”On the basis of the recommendations included in the report of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the 36th Summit of the African Union (AU), as coordinator of continental efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism, Algeria reiterates its call to redouble and coordinate efforts at the regional and international levels to eradicate this scourge and deal with its repercussions, within the framework of a comprehensive and multidimensional approach,”” according to the same source
Algeria “emphasizes the need to strengthen the defense capabilities of African countries to curb the terrorist risk that threatens stability and hinders development efforts on the continent,” the statement concluded.
