
Algeria has strongly condemned the terrorist attack against a detachment of the Niger army in the south-east of the country, leaving several soldiers dead and wounded, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad said Sunday.
“Algeria strongly condemns the terrorist attack carried out on Friday 10 February 2023 against a detachment of the Nigerien army patrolling the locality of Intagamey, in the northern zone of the Banibangou department, in the south-east of Niger, on the border with Mali, leaving several soldiers dead and wounded, some of them missing,” reads the communiqué.
“Algeria offers its sincere condolences to the Government and the brotherly people of Niger, conveys its sympathy to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured,” the same source added.
Algeria ” affirms its solidarity with the Republic of Niger in its war against terrorism and reiterates its call for the strengthening of efforts at regional and international levels to eradicate this abject scourge which continues to have a negative impact on peace, security and development in Africa “, the statement concluded.
