The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed, on Wednesday in Tunis, the will of Algeria and Tunisia to “enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields” in order to reach “economic integration and unified and common prospects”.
In a joint press conference with the Tunisian President, Mr. Kais Saied, on the sidelines of his visit to Tunisia, the President of the Republic said that this visit falls within the framework of “our joint and continuous efforts to strengthen the deep-rooted brotherly relations between the two brotherly peoples,” expressing “deep satisfaction at the outcome of the bilateral talks, foremost among which is the affirmation of our will to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, hoping to reach economic integration and unified and common horizons.
He stressed that this concern stems from “a shared will and reflects the strategic direction that we aspire to be the basis of optimal exploitation of the elements of human, historical and cultural rapprochement.”
The President of the Republic indicated that he agreed with the Tunisian President in this context, that “the legal framework for regulating bilateral relations will be strengthened within this new perspective, by signing an important number of agreements to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in vital sectors for the next stages of our joint work.”
On the same occasion, the President of the Republic expressed his thanks to his Tunisian counterpart for “the warm welcome and for changing the protocol of the Tunisian state in receiving presidents” in order to receive him, reiterating his happiness for his presence in Tunisia on the occasion of the celebration by the Tunisian people of the revolution’s day. He seized the opportunity to extend his warmest congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Said and the Tunisian people.
Regarding economic cooperation between the two countries, the President of the Republic renewed the two countries’ determination to move towards “economic integration that makes the two peoples live in prosperity.”
He pointed out that “Tunisia is an extension of Algeria, just as Algeria is an extension of Tunisia,” and added that “there is a bond from Algeria to sister Tunisia and full and comprehensive assistance according to Algeria’s capabilities,” stressing that “Algeria will not spare anything to assist sister Tunisia,” despite the remnants of the Corona pandemic which “made the economies of the world collapse, but we are distinguished by patience and coping with circumstances according to our capabilities, and we do not have a culture of defeat, but rather a culture of winning” – the President of the Republic said.
