“Algeria is following with deep concern the situation prevailing in the Republic of Guinea. It reaffirms its commitment to the core principles of the African Union, in particular the rejection of any unconstitutional change of government as stated in Algiers decision of 1999 and reaffirmed by the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance,” the MFA said.
“considering the reasons that caused this unconstitutional change must find consensual solutions stemming from a responsible dialogue with the objective of ensuring respect for the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and national unity of Guinea, as well as all the achievements of the Guinean people.” Add the communiqué.
“Algeria will coordinate with other member countries of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union in the context of the implementation of the Constitutive Act of the continental organization and its relevant positions on the subject.” MFA added.
“Algeria hopes that the Republic of Guinea will quickly overcome this episode and reiterates the expression of its fraternal solidarity with the Guinean people with whom it maintains historical relations marked by the stamp of friendship and cooperation,” said the ministry.
