Algeria wins in a friendly match against Iran

The Algerian national football team defeated its Iranian counterpart (2-1 / first half: 1-0), yesterday, Sunday, at the “Suhaim Bin Hamad” stadium in Doha (Qatar), in a friendly match in preparation for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Côte d’Ivoire (23 June-23 July).

Striker Riad Benyad (43mn) opened the scoring in the last period of the first half for the “greens”, before the Iranians managed to adjust the balance in the second half through their leader Ali Reza Jahanbakhsh (63mn), but the national team players knew how to snatch the victory with a second goal scored by the brilliant Mohamed Amine Amoura (82mn).

This friendly match comes as the conclusion of the national team’s trianing, where the coach Belmadi’s cubs made a new start by leading the sixth group in the qualifying rounds for the continental event, after winning during the first two matches against Uganda (2-0) in Algeria, then against Tanzania (0-2), outside home.

The Algerian national team will play the third and fourth rounds of the qualifying campaign for the 2023 African Nations Cup, on September 19 and 27, in a double confrontation against Niger, with the aim of snatching a qualification ticket for the continental competition in Côte d’Ivoire.
