Algerian parliamentary delegation received by Nigerien President in Niamey

An Algerian parliamentary delegation was received, yesterday, Wednesday, in Niamey, by the President of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Mohamed Bazoum, according to what was reported today, Thursday, in a statement of the National People’s Assembly.

The same source stated that President Bazoum, during his reception of the delegation headed by the head of the Parliamentary Group for the Algeria-Niger Friendship, MP Boudjemaa Zenani, in the presence of the Algerian Ambassador to Niger, Mehdi Bekhda, “expressed his happiness with this visit and renewed his desire to develop cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields, Especially the social and economic ones, and focused in particular on the security aspect.

On the same occasion, the President of the Republic of Niger affirmed that this visit would “consolidate the rapprochement between the parliamentarians of the two countries, who play a major role in developing bilateral relations,” calling in the same context for “programming periodic visits to enhance cooperation with Algeria, which is considered the gateway to the Mediterranean region.”

After the reception, the delegation visited “the official stations for electric generators and projects for solar panels stations with a production capacity of 30 megawatts, which were completed according to international standards within the framework of Niger’s endeavor to obtain electricity supplies from clean energy to meet the demand of consumers, homes and various industries.”

The statement indicated that the Republic of Niger “is also seeking to establish another solar plant with a capacity of 50 megawatts near the capital, Niamey, as part of a program to expand the exploitation of solar energy of the World Bank Group.”

It is noteworthy that the members of the parliamentary delegation had arrived in the Republic of Niger last Monday within the framework of a six-day visit.
