Algeria participates in 53rd Cairo International Book Fair

Algeria will participate in the 53rd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair in Egypt, starting next Wednesday, with hundreds of new publications and the presence of several writers as part of the participation program of the Ministry of Culture and Arts on various Arab and international cultural, literary and artistic events.

The of Culture and Arts Wafaa Chaalal said that her ministry has prepared a “strong and effective” program of participation in Arab and international cultural, literary and artistic events, including the 53rd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, as book fairs constitute a “precious opportunity for publishers and writers.”

The minister indicated that the participation in these literary and cultural events reflects the effort to “expand the cultural and literary presence of Algeria in its Arab, African and regional environment” and according to the “directions” of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who is currently on an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

As part of the Algerian participation in the Cairo International Book Fair, Ms. Chaalal pointed out that she “gave instructions for the services of her sector in order to support this participation and help it be exemplary, especially since a large number of Algerian writers and creators have already imposed themselves in the Arab world.”

The minister stressed that this participation “will not be the last, but Algeria will be present in the upcoming exhibitions through the official pavilion of Algeria, pending the preparation of mechanisms to help the Algerian publisher participate in the most important international forums dedicated to the book.” She also mentioned, in this context, Algeria’s capabilities that allow it to “engage” in the book market, whether at the Arab or international level, noting that “Algerian literature managed to win prizes in various forums.”

At the conclusion of her speech, the Minister expressed her hope that “these efforts in the field of book-making and literary creations will continue, and that the achievements will be multiplied in the future.”
