Arab Summit: Rezig affirms Algeria’s keenness to develop joint Arab economic and social cooperation

Minister of Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig affirmed on Friday, in Algiers, Algeria’s keenness to develop joint Arab cooperation in the economic and social development fields.

This came in a speech he delivered during the opening of the meeting of the Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level in preparation for the meeting of the Council of the Arab League at 31st session of the Arab Summit, at the International Conference Center “Abdelatif Rahal”, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

“Algeria is very keen to develop joint Arab cooperation in the economic and social development fields, which will deepen the ties between our countries by achieving the desired integration and making a qualitative leap that serves the higher interests of our Arab nation,” the minister indicated.

He added that “Algeria will endeavor to provide the maximum support for joint Arab action to serve the welfare of peoples through the League of Arab States, believing that this is a right of our peoples over us.”

In this context, Mr. Rezig stressed the need to activate and deepen Arab economic integration and exchange expertise and successful experiences, while defining priorities and focusing on areas of joint action that have a rapid and tangible positive impact on Arab peoples.

The minister also called for “building an impenetrable Arab economic bloc that preserves the interests of the Arab citizens and supports them in advancing their economies, given the difficult stage that the economies of Arab countries have gone through in light of the current economic climate, and the repercussions of the Covid 19 pandemic, and the significant decline in growth rates.”
