Arab Swimming Championship “Oran-2022”: collective qualification for Algerians to first day finals

Algerian swimmers participating in the fifth edition of the Arab Open Championship, which kicked off today, Wednesday, at the aquatic center of the Oran sports complex “Miloud Hedfi” succeeded in qualifying for the finals of their races scheduled to take place as at 17:00.

The Algerian participation in the first day qualifiers concerned the men category only, after the representatives of the national team qualified directly for the opening day finals.

In the 50-meter backstroke race, Ardjoun Abdellah and Benbara Nazim, guaranteed their participation in the final of the specialty, and the same applies to Djawad Sayoud, who won three medals during the last Mediterranean Games in Oran, as well as Ramzi Chouchar in the 200-meter freestyle race.

The program of the first day includes no less than 11 final races which will be preceded by the official opening ceremony of this event hosted by Algeria for the first time, in which more than 200 male and female athletes from 12 countries will participate.

It’s worth noting that the first three days of the championship are dedicated to races in the Olympic basin, while the program of the fourth and final day includes the open water race over a distance of 5 km at the level of “New Beach” in Ain El Turk.
