Arbaoui: Algeria will continue to defend just causes despite those who cannot get rid of colonialism complex

Ambassador Nadir Arbaoui, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, affirmed today, Wednesday, that Algeria will continue, despite those who cannot get rid of the complex of colonialism, to defend the just causes of peoples who are struggling to recover their basic rights and self-determination, especially in Palestine and Western Sahara.

This came during a symposium, organized by the Al-Moudjahid newspaper forum, on the occasion of the National Day of Diplomacy, coinciding with October 8 of each year, under the slogan “The Role of Diplomacy in Supporting Liberation Movements in the World.”

The representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed, in his intervention during the symposium, that “Algeria remains the nation of one and a half million martyrs, which some are trying to ignore, insult its institutions and even rewrite its history in vain, to improve chances on the occasion of upcoming elections.”

He added that Algeria “is keen to engage in many regional and international endeavors aimed at addressing the root causes of conflicts and disputes and bringing stability to its regional and international environment by upholding the values of dialogue, negotiation and national reconciliation.”

Mr. Arbaoui also emphasized the recent speech of the head of Algerian diplomacy, Ramtane Lamamra, before the UN General Assembly, through which he reminded the international community of its historical obligations towards the right of peoples to self-determination.

Ambassador Arbaoui highlighted that among the most important pillars that characterize Algerian diplomacy, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is “the adoption of a balanced and multilateral foreign policy in international relations, to uphold human values, in line with the principles of international legitimacy and international law based on respect.”
