Arkab: 13 mining projects to search for precious and rare minerals between Tamanrasset and Illizi provinces

Minister of Mines, Mohamed Arkab, declared today, Monday, from Tamanrasset province, that there are 13 mining projects to search for precious and rare minerals between Tamanrasset and Illizi provinces

Inspecting gold mine of Amesmessa (450 km southwest of Tamanrasset) within the framework of the second and last day of the visit to the province, Minister Arkab, accompanied by Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of micro-companies Nassim Diafat and Deputy Minister for Saharan environment Hamza Al Sid Cheikh, declared: “We will be working on extracting and exploiting these minerals in partnership with Algerian universities, and efforts will continue reach these minerals which will be exploited in industrial fields.”

After listening to a presentation on Amesmessa gold mine and after inspecting its various parts, Minister of Mines confirmed that this mining site is practically ready to receive quantities of gold provided by micro-companies that have been granted licenses for exploitation of gold, and which their number reaches 92 companies in this province.

In his response to concerns expressed by miners, which mainly focused on the development of underground exploitation techniques and ensuring training for workers at various levels, the Minister emphasized that this mine will be developed by using the experience of Algerian workers, indicating that training is one of the sector’s priorities.

Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of micro-enterprises, Nassim Diafat, for his part, declared that the creation of small companies by young people is guaranteed and that they will also be fully accompanied by the ministry.

Deputy Minister for Saharan environment Hamza Al Sid Cheikh, indicated that “the exploitation of gold by youth will be accompanied by environmental services,” adding that there will be no tolerance towards environment harming activities.

The ministerial delegation concluded its visit by identifying two mining sites for artisanal exploitation of gold at Terek region (80 km from the Amesmessa mine), and they were briefed on the start of the process of the exploitation of gold by small companies.
