Arkab discusses with Saudi ambassador ways and means to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and mining

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received, Monday in Algiers, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Algeria, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Busairi, with whom he discussed ways and means to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy and mines, according to a ministry statement.

During this meeting, the two men reviewed the “excellent cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of energy and mines and ways and means to enhance them,” the statement adds.

On this occasion, Arkab stressed the investment and partnership opportunities offered by the energy sector in Algeria, especially the exploration, development and exploitation of hydrocarbons as part of the new hydrocarbons law, which “provides many facilities and advantages for investors.”

Meanwhile, “the two parties insisted on strengthening cooperation relations in the mining field in Algeria, especially research, exploitation, production and transformation of mineral materials,” adds the same source.

In this regard, the minister discussed with the Saudi ambassador Algeria’s participation in the eighth consultative meeting of Arab ministers in charge of minerals and the ministerial meeting of countries participating in the international mining conference hosted by Riyadh.

The two parties evoked the cooperation and investment opportunities that exist in the field of seawater desalination in Algeria, according to the ministry.

Finally, the two sides discussed developments in the oil markets and the joint efforts made by the two countries as part of cooperation between the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and outside it, with the aim of stabilizing oil markets in the short and medium term, the statement concluded.
