
Singer and composer Mustapha Zmirli died Wednesday at the age of 83 following a long illness, according to his relatives
His real name Mustapha Zemmiri, Zmirli was born on November 1, 1939 in Bordj El Kiffan in Algiers, the city where he trained at the Conservatory from 1963, to learn singing, music theory and declamation.
Also a percussionist, Mustapha Zmirli distinguished himself by interpreting roles in operettas such as “Chanson d’amour”, “Valse de Vienne”, “Land of smiles”, or even “Paganini”.
