
Algerian sprinter Haithem Chnitef qualified Friday, for the final of the 800m race, during the semi-final competitions, as part of the U 20 world championships taking place in Cali (Colombia).
The Algerian snatched the first place in Group B with a time of 1:55:48, which was not only Chnitef’s personal best performance, but also the best time in the three qualifiers on the semi-final table.
For his part, Poland’s Gasper Lewalski finished second in the qualifiers (148.76).
The final race will be held today, Saturday (22:16 pm Algeria time), and another Algerian will participate in the sixth and final day of the World Championships in Cali, namely Wissal Harkas, who qualified for the final of the triple jump competition (21:50 pm Algeria time).
In the fifth day of the competitions, Algerian Ismail Benhamouda won a silver medal in the 10,000-meter walk with a time of 42:42.49.
