Attaf, French counterpart examine prospects to strengthen bilateral relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf received Monday a phone call from his French counterpart Catherine Colonna with whom he examined the prospects of strengthening the relations between the two countries, the ministry said in a statement.

On this occasion, Mrs. Colonna congratulated Mr. Attaf on his appointment as head of Algerian diplomacy. Continuing from the telephone conversation between the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his French counterpart, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, on March 24th, “this first communication between the two ministers made it possible to examine the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations in the light of the agreed bilateral deadlines”, including notably the state visit that Mr. Tebboune will soon make to France, the statement emphasized.

In this context, Mr. Attaf and Mrs. Colonna “evaluated the progress made on the major issues that will form the substance of this state visit.” To this end, the heads of diplomacy of the two countries “were informed of the designation of focal points to ensure the coordination of sectoral cooperation actions in the spirit of the +Algiers Declaration for a renewed partnership between Algeria and France+,” the statement concluded.
