Authorities thwart entry of more than 15 quintals of drugs across western borders

Joint detachments of People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services, managed during the period from 06 to 12 October 2021 to thwart the entry of more than 15 quintals of processed hashish across the country’s western borders, the Ministry of National Defense said today, Wednesday, in a statement.

As part of the fight against organized crime and “the continuation of the tireless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country,” the statement indicated that, “in addition to the huge amount of treated hashish that exceeded (10) quintals seized in Bachar province, which was the subject of a previously issued statement, the detachments of People’s National  Army, in coordination with various security services, in the second and third military regions, thwarted 10 drug dealers and attempts to bring in other quantities of drugs across the border with Morocco, estimated at 430 kilograms of processed hashish.

Another 28 drug dealers were arrested and 90 kilograms of the same substance were seized, as well as 473,328 hallucinogenic tablets during various operations through other military regions.

As for the fight against terrorism, “joint detachments of People’s National Army arrested 13 elements of support for terrorist groups in separate operations across the national territory.”
