The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, stressed today, Tuesday in Algiers, the necessity to “strictly monitor” the health situation in educational institutions, stressing the importance of “strict application” of the health protocol to face up to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, according to a statement by the ministry.
While presiding over the work of a national symposium held via videoconference and devoted to examining the health situation in educational institutions in the presence of directors of education and executives from the central administration, the minister emphasized “the necessity of personal and accurate monitoring of the situation in educational institutions in full coordination with health directorates when suspected or confirmed cases appear and taking the measures stipulated in Joint Ministerial Instruction No. 01 of January 10, 2021 related to strengthening the health system for prevention and containing COVID-19 in the schools.
Belabed also stressed the need to “mobilize everyone to confront this epidemic effectively, and to ensure the immediate monitoring of the health situation in all educational institutions, as well as the strict application of the health protocol, with the need to activate follow-up cells under the direct supervision of education directors and to ensure the provision of correct information to reassure parents and public opinion so that the anxiety resulting from rumors does not prevail.”.
In the same context, the Minister stressed the importance of “coordinating with the heads of educational institutions to develop a strategy for sensitization work and adherence to the preventive measures, in addition to reminding the need to continue the vaccination process, which remains the most effective means of protection,” recalling “the great efforts made to produce the vaccine locally.”
The meeting also constituted an opportunity to “provide the necessary instructions and directives to effectively deal with the current health situation.”
