Boughali calls for more cooperation in the fight against terrorism

The Speaker of the National People’s Assembly (NPA), Brahim Boughali, called, from Cairo, for the need to intensify cooperation and update strategies relating to the fight against terrorism, said Saturday a statement from the lower house of the Algerian parliament.

In an address to the 4th Conference of the Arab Parliament, Mr Boughali called for ” intensifying cooperation and updating strategies related to the fight against terrorism “, warning against this scourge which, he added, ” has been able to adapt to the actions taken to counter it and dry up its funding sources “.

Stressing “the importance of guaranteeing peace and security in the countries of the region”, Mr Boughali underlined “the need to make the voice of the Arab world heard, in the midst of rapid international events and the ruthless struggle of countries for hegemony”.

On the subject of economic cooperation, Mr Boughali called for “collective preparation for the post-Covid period, with a view to reviving socio-economic development”, according to the same source.

Speaking about the Palestinian question, the Speaker of the National Assembly reiterated “Algeria’s solidarity with the Palestinian people who are still suffering from the repression of the Zionist occupation, in full view of the international community” adding that “Algeria reiterates its full support for the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights and build their independent state with East Al Quds as its capital”.

At the end of his speech, Mr Boughali expressed “the commitment of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to ensure the success of the next Arab summit, which will be unifying and uniting with the aim of establishing Arab solidarity and pursuing the reform of the Arab League in order to lend more credibility to joint Arab action.
