
Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, Brahim Boughali, received today, Thursday, the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee of the State of Qatar, Mrs. Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah and her accompanying delegation, where the two parties reviewed the reality and prospects for human rights in Algeria and the Arab world, according to a statement issued by the Assembly.
This meeting comes on the sidelines of the working visit of Mrs. Bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah to Algeria, in her capacity as President of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions and President of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.
During this meeting, Mr. Boughali stressed “the need to intensify efforts and exchange experiences and expertise, in order to advance the work and efforts of human rights organizations and bodies in Arab countries to the highest levels.”
He also referred to the role played by the People’s National Assembly in supporting all efforts aimed at promoting human rights at the Arab level, as it “renewed its support for all proposals and initiatives aimed in this context,” the statement adds.
In turn, Mrs. Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah praised Algeria’s efforts and the strides it had made in the advancement of human rights.
It also called, in this context, for more cooperation and exchange of experiences, to “consolidate strong relations” between the two organizations in Algeria and the State of Qatar.
