Pursuant to the provisions of Article 11, Paragraph 03, of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Public Prosecutor at the Dellys Court of Boumerdes informs the public that, in the framework of continuing to combat the phenomenon of illegal speculation in basic foodstuffs with wide consumption, (subsidized milk), (15) defendants have been prosecuted by immediate appearance.
After the trial, a ruling was issued convicting the defendants of the misdemeanor of illegal speculation in accordance with Article: 13 of the Law on Combating Unlawful Speculation, and as a punishment they were sentenced to penalties ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison, with arrest warrants issued against the defendants who are on the run, and financial fines enforceability from two million (2,000,000) Algerian dinars to five million (5,000,000) Algerian dinars, and complementary penalties by publishing and suspending the judgment in accordance with the provisions of Article 18 of the Penal Code, with confiscation of seizures.
For information, the Unlawful Speculation Law No. 15/21 issued on 12/28/2021 stipulates the application of strict penalties for those involved in these crimes. Up to 30 years imprisonment and life imprisonment if the crime is committed as part of an organized group.
