Bounedjah wins award for best scorer in Qatar Stars Football League

The Algerian international player for Qatari Al-Sadd club, Baghdad Bounedjah, won the “Mansour Moftah” award for the best scorer in the Qatar Stars Football League, for the past season 2020-2021, with 21 goals, and was also chosen among the list of candidates to compete for the award for the best player, according to an announcement made today, Monday, by Qatar Football Association.

Bounedjah (29 years old), Al Sadd club striker, is competing for the best player award, along with his fellow Spaniard Santi Cazorla and Brazilian Edmelson Junior from (Al Duhail SC).

The Algerian international striker, nicknamed “The Killer”, contributed to Al Sadd’s championship title thanks to his 21 goals which put him on top of the scorers list, the son of the city of Oran thus established himself as a star in the team of Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez, as the “leader” was not defeated during 22 games (19 wins, 3 draws), to win the 15th Qatar Championship title in its history since its founding in 1969, and the 75th title in all competitions.

Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez (Al Sadd Club) will also compete for the best coach award, with Younes Ali (Qatar Club) and Nebojsa Jovovich (Al-Ahly Club), according to the same source.

The final lists of nominees for the best awards for the 2020-2021 sports season were approved after the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Qatar Football Association Award, and it was decided not to organize the award ceremony for the winners due to Coronavirus pandemic, as the final results will be announced after the vote counting process is completed on the official website of Qatar Federation.
