The newly built Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki stands as a magnificent feature of the capital, Algiers.  It will notably host the opening match and the final of the African Nations Championship.  Built in the suburbs of Algiers, the new stadium reflects the modernity of Algeria’s new stadiums, in the same way as Douéra or Tizi Ouzou.

Stade du 19 mai 1956, Annaba (52,000 seats)

The 19 May 1956 stadium in Annaba is one of the largest stadiums in Algeria in terms of capacity.  It opened on 10 July 1987. The stadium has been refurbished for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN). The 19 May 1956 stadium, which hosts USM Annaba, was inaugurated during a qualifying match for the 1988 Summer Olympics between Algeria and Sudan (3-1). The very first goal was scored by Sudanese Kamel Mohamed in the 12th minute.

Miloud Hadefi Stadium, Oran (40,000 seats)

With a capacity of 40,000, the brand new Miloud Hadefi Olympic Stadium in Oran was inaugurated in June 2022 by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboun, ahead of the Mediterranean Games that it has hosted. It is part of the Oran Olympic complex and has already hosted two international matches of the Verts against Guinea and Nigeria.

The Miloud Hadefi stadium in Oran is a real architectural masterpiece and will be one of the stadiums of the CHAN Algeria 2022.

Stade Chahid Hamlaoui, Constantine (22,000 seats)

Located 500km east of Algiers, the Chahid Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine has been given a makeover for the CHAN Algeria 2022. The 22,000-capacity stadium, home of the club CS Constantine, opened on 5 July 1973. The first match in this stadium was played on Wednesday 3 April 1974, during the final of the military championship.

On 17 November 1978, the Chahid-Hamlaoui stadium hosted the first friendly match of the Algerian national team, against its counterpart from Congo (3-0).

In preparation for the CHAN Algeria 2022, the stadium was equipped with a new natural grass pitch and a giant screen. It has also undergone the restoration of the stands, the reinforcement of the roof, the construction of new entrances and walkways, as well as the fitting of electronic ticketing equipment at the gates.
