Commemoration of 65th anniversary of martyrdom of hero Ahmed Zabana in Mascara

The province of Mascara commemorated today, Saturday, the 65th anniversary of the martyrdom of the hero Ahmed Zabana (1926-1956), who was the first martyr to be executed by guillotine by the French colonizer.

The Wali of Mascara, Abdel-Khalek Siouda who was accompanied by local civil and military authorities and the revolutionary family, headed to the cemetery of  martyrs in the municipality of Zahana, the birthplace of the martyr, where the national flag was raised, the national anthem was heard and Fatiha of the holy Coran was read in tribute for the souls of the martyrs. A visit was paid to Ghar Boujlida (municipality of Kaada) which is the site where the martyr Ahmed Zabana was arrested after a clash with the French colonial army.

A diverse exhibition was also organized at the venue, in which the directorates of the Moudjahidin and rights holders, youth and sports, culture and arts participated, highlighting the struggle and sacrifices of Algerian people until independence.

On the occasion of this anniversary, the municipal stadium of Zahana was inaugurated after benefiting from a rehabilitation process that cost 36.7 million DA within the framework of Solidarity and Guarantee Fund for Local Communities.
