Confederation Cup semi-final first leg: JS Kabylie defeats host Coton Sport 2-1

JS Kabylie defeated its host Coton Sport, Cameroon, 2-1 (first half: 1-1), today, Sunday, for the first leg of the African Confederation Cup semi-finals.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Lambert Gueme Araina, before Ahmed Karroum equalized the score for Algeria in the 45+2 minute.

JS Kabylie added the winning goal in the 62nd minute after a goal scored by Pierre Itami’s against its own team.

JS Kabylie scored a goal in the 39th minute through player Malik Rayeh, but it was rejected by the referee for offside.

The match was attended by 10,000 spectators after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) agreed to let the fans in.

The match was scheduled to take place at the “Roumdé Adjia” stadium in Garoua, before it was transferred to the “Ahmadou Ahidjo” stadium in Yaounde due to the difficulties in setting up the VAR system.

It is worth noting that the two teams met during the group stage, where JS Kabylie won in the two legs (1-0 in Tizi Ouzou, and 2-1 in Garoua).

The return match will take place on Sunday, June 27 (at 20:00) at “July 5” Olympic Stadium (Algiers).
