Constitutional Court/Supreme Court: an agreement to strengthen institutional cooperation

A convention was signed on Tuesday in Algiers between the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court aiming at reinforcing institutional cooperation in the framework of the exchange of scientific and operational experiences between the two bodies.

At the end of the signing ceremony, Mr Belhadj said that this agreement aimed to “strengthen institutional cooperation in the framework of the exchange of scientific and operational experiences and to set up a framework favourable to the organisation of professional sessions and training programmes for the benefit of the executives and civil servants of the two bodies, in addition to the creation of joint research teams, notably in the field of constitutional and legal jurisprudence”.

He also expressed his conviction that this approach “could contribute to the concretisation of good practices and to the improvement of the capacities of the civil servants of the two institutions, in particular with regard to the exception of unconstitutionality, which should have an impact on the consecration of the human rights and freedoms of the citizen guaranteed by the Constitution within the framework of the rule of law.
